A new PRCUA Polish dance school has formed, it is named Zajaczek Dance Ensemble.  Racheal, Tricia and myself had picked this name for our new group to honor Ms. Linda for all the years of hard work she had given to the community.  Zajaczek is a name of a dance from the Beskid region and is an active dance of men showing off for the girls. The name just seems perfect for us.  Our logo will be a wianek and a Krakowski hat, even though this is not the costume items from this region, again we feel it represent the whole country of Poland and that is what Ms. Linda had taught us to be a whole family.   Racheal and Tricia will carry on traditions but also provide a new Polish flair for the group.  Let our adventure begin!

All PRCUA dancers that come from another PRCUA dance school, you will bring your years of dancing with you.

  • Choreographers- Rachael Kasperek and Tricia Zajac
  • Director- Colleen Bonkowski

o       Costumes-Practice Attire

o       Girls-practice skirt, shorts or sweatpants under skirt, black jazz shoes, red t-shirt, hair pulled up away from face.

o       Boys-sweatpants or shorts, black jazz shoes, and red t-shirt.

o       Traditional Costumes

o       All students must own a Krakowski Costume. If transferring from another group then an update of the costume will be needed to be uniformed with Zajaczek.  A new student(s) will need to purchase the costume in the beginning of the dance season.  New costume cost between $100-$200 depending on age and gender of student.  We order costumes pieces from Poland, some are bought at the Polish Art Center, and some are homemade to save on cost.  Every student will be helped personally by me or a seasoned parent to make the transition of joining easy.

  • Regional Costumes

o       Our goal is for every group to have at least 1 regional costume by recital.

o       The choreographers and I have decided to have the ensemble do our finale in a uniformed regional costume from the Beskid region.

    • Measurements:  It is very important that I have some sort of sizes of each dancer so we can work on different costumes this summer.  Please include this in your registration or email them to me.

o       Enrollment Fees-$175 first student $40 additional students.

o       PRCUA Insurance Policy- Every student must hold an up to date insurance policy through PRCUA in order to dance.  For a new student, a policy will need to be purchased during the first month of class.  All parents are welcomed to purchase a policy.  The dance school has an insurance deputy that could answer all questions if needed.

  • PRCUA Society- This is a group that is formed to promote Polish heritage and culture.  This society will partake in a lot of our school functions such as St. Nicholas day, Christmas, palm weaving.  All students that hold a policy are already a member. Any parent (with policy) or student that is 16 years and older are considered an adult member and can hold an office for this society.
  • Practice Day and Time:  We will be practicing on Thursdays at the American Polish Century Club on Maple Lane.  Our class times will be posted closer to September when we have a final count of students.  The first class will start at 6:00 pm and we will run classes till 10:00 pm.  Our first class will be on Thursday, September 6, 2007.
  • School Officers- Nominations and election will be held before recital.  President and Secretary will be elected even years/Vice-President and Treasury will be elected odd years.  These are two year terms.
  • Bylaws-Every school must have a set of bylaws and also follow the PRCUA bylaws to govern their school.
  • Financial Reports- A book of school finance and class notes will be available at each class.
  • Parent’s Participation- All is welcomed to participate in any jobs that is needing to be done to keep the school running smoothly.  We ask that every family take a job at recital to make it a success.
  • Fundraising- The school will do some sort of fundraising to help cut cost of making new costumes.
  • Holidays- All holiday will be celebrated.  Our Christmas party will be on Thursday, December 20.  This will take the place of our regular class practice.
  • Logo clothing- T-shirts, sweatshirt and Polo’s are being ordered now for the summer.  There will also be an order placed in the fall.  Let me know ASAP if you would like an item with our logo an it.
  • Service Ribbons and Awards- A printed service ribbon with school name will be given to all students.  The special anniversary ribbons will also be awarded to the 5, 10 and 15 year students.  All merit will be recognized. This will be done at the end of the year at an award celebration.
